Considering your diet

If you are trying to lose weight then you may be tempted to go on a diet. There are a huge number of different types of diets out there that can be done to help you lose weight. Often these diets are focused on what foods you eat or on the amount you eat and others are a combination of the two.

For a diet to work well, you need to find the right one to suit you. If you need to lose weight quite quickly for an operation or a special occasion such as a wedding you may decide to do a fasting diet. These often work well but there are some concerns about the long term affects these diets can have.

Ideally the best and healthiest way to lose weight is to do it gradually and to analyse both what you are eating and how much of it. On average a women needs to consume about 2000 calories a day to maintain their weight and 1500 calories to lose about a pound a week while men need about 2500 calories to maintain weight and 2000 to lose.
